Founded in the 1980s by Late Shri Dr. M. Shripad Rao, Jyothishri Kala Kendra has been a cultural landmark in Kasaragod. What began as a humble effort to promote Hindustani music at Bana Sundari has grown into a vibrant hub for music, dance, theatre, and cultural exchange.
We aspire to build a state-of-the-art academy for Art, Culture, and Yoga—a space where heritage and innovation flourish together. Our goal is to connect communities, mentor future generations, and carry forward the rich legacy of Indian performing arts.
For over four decades, we have nurtured artists and created platforms for performances in Yakshagana, Nataka (Drama), Classical Dance, Folk Arts, and Hindustani music. Guided by the passion of our co-founder Smt. Jyothi Prabha Shripad Rao and the vision of our Director Dr. Sudhesh S. Rao, we continue to uphold the values of tradition while embracing modern creativity.
Spread over 30 cents of land with a 3000 sq. ft. cultural facility, Jyothishri Kala Kendra offers classrooms, rehearsal halls, and performance spaces—designed to inspire creativity, collaboration, and excellence.
